Plumber quote template guide
Create plumbing quotes that make fixtures, pipework, labour, access, testing and exclusions clear before the job begins.
A good plumbing quote distinguishes the visible job the client requested from the supporting work needed to complete it. It should specify fixtures, pipework, labour and testing, while making hidden conditions and repair work clear.
Define the job outcome
Start with a short result-focused scope. “Replace bathroom” is too broad; “Remove the existing sanitaryware, alter hot, cold and waste connections, and install the selected basin, WC and shower tray” is much easier to price and approve.
For repair work, record the known symptom and the work you are pricing. Do not promise that an exploratory repair will solve an unidentified underlying problem unless you can confirm it.
Separate supply and installation
State who supplies each major item. If you supply it, include the manufacturer, range or allowance where useful. If the client supplies it, clarify delivery, compatibility and responsibility for replacement if it arrives damaged or unsuitable.

Cover access and reinstatement
Pipework is often hidden. Explain whether the price includes opening walls or floors, specialist access equipment, drying, tiling, joinery, plastering or decoration. A clear exclusion avoids the assumption that every finish will be restored by the same trade.
Useful wording might be:
Quote assumes pipe routes are accessible beneath the removable floor section. Tiling and decoration are excluded. Any concealed damage discovered after opening will be photographed and priced before additional work proceeds.
Address isolation, drainage and testing
Confirm whether water isolation is available and whether the property must be empty during part of the work. Include filling, flushing, pressure testing or operational checks relevant to the installation. If waste removal is included, say so.
Price uncertainty honestly
Emergency leaks and hidden failures cannot always be fixed-price work. You can quote a defined diagnostic visit, use a labour rate for investigation, or state a maximum initial authorisation. The important point is that the client knows what the first price covers and when you will request approval for more.

- The affected room, fixtures and pipe runs are identified.
- Supply responsibility is clear for every major fixture.
- Removal, disposal and isolation are included where needed.
- Access, opening-up and making good are addressed.
- Testing and commissioning are part of the scope.
- Hidden defects and variations have an approval process.
- Payment terms, tax and quote validity are shown.
Example job summary
Replace the existing shower mixer and exposed connections, including isolation, removal, installation, resealing and operational testing. Price assumes compatible existing pipe centres and serviceable isolation valves. Repairs to concealed pipework and replacement tiles are excluded.
