Electrician quote template guide
Build clearer electrical quotes with circuit-level scope, labour, materials, testing, exclusions and client-ready terms.
An electrician quote should identify the installation work precisely enough for the client to understand the result and for you to price labour, materials and testing consistently. “Rewire house” is a starting point, not a complete scope.
Describe the installation, not only the product
Name the rooms, circuits or equipment involved. State whether the price covers new installation, replacement, relocation, fault finding or repair. For a larger job, group items by area or system:
- consumer unit and protective devices;
- lighting circuits and fittings;
- socket circuits and outlets;
- kitchen or appliance supplies;
- outdoor power and lighting;
- inspection, testing and certification.
If decorative fittings are client-supplied, explain whether your price includes assembly and installation.

You may use an all-inclusive installed price or separate labour and materials. Whichever approach you choose, apply it consistently so the client is not comparing unrelated formats within the same quote.
Define access and making good
Electrical work can affect walls, ceilings and finishes. Say whether the quote includes chasing, lifting floorboards, access equipment, fire stopping, plaster repair or decoration. Also record assumptions about access to the distribution board and whether the property will be occupied.
Example wording:
Price includes normal cable routes through accessible floor and ceiling voids. Final decoration and repair of pre-existing finishes are excluded. Any inaccessible route will be discussed before additional work starts.
Include testing in the scope
Do not leave inspection and testing implicit. State what will be tested and which documentation is included where applicable to the work and your jurisdiction. If existing defects could prevent successful completion, describe how they will be reported and priced.
Check the material specification
Record the range, finish or performance level used for pricing. A white moulded accessory and a metal decorative accessory can have very different costs. Check supplier availability, delivery costs and quote validity before you send the document.

- Testing and relevant documentation are stated.
- Making good and decoration are included or excluded clearly.
- Client-supplied items and warranties are identified.
- Tax, validity period and payment terms are visible.
A concise example scope
Replace the existing consumer unit, install suitable protective devices, label circuits, inspect and test the modified installation and provide the applicable completion documentation. Price assumes the existing circuits pass required tests; remedial work to existing faults is excluded and will be quoted separately.
